Tammie C. Hoy, an affordable housing enthusiast and a community development advocate, has been working to promote the development and preservation of affordable housing in the Charleston community since moving to Charleston in 1992. She moved here from Northwest Indiana to attend the College of Charleston.
• Tammie received her undergraduate degree from the College in Political Science, while working for a non-profit called the Harmony Project, whose mission was to promote sustainable community development and housing preservation. Her work there included the development and management of a reuse, recycle building material center, The Harmony Warehouse. The warehouse supported affordable housing development by provided new and used building materials to low income families for minor home repairs and construction.
• After several years in the non-profit sector, Tammie received her Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Graduate School at the College of Charleston in 2002. Tammie worked for the City of Charleston’s Department of Housing and Community Development for three years managing and administering federal grants awarded to the City by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development until her recent move to run the Lowcountry Housing Trust.
• Tammie worked in her capacity as Community Development Coordinator at the City of Charleston under the direction of Patricia Crawford, Director of Housing and Community Development to research and develop the concept for a local trust fund. The Mayor and Board of Director’s recognizing the need for affordable housing goes beyond the City of Charleston borders incorporated the Trust as a regional 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. June 2004 Tammie was named Executive Director of the Lowcountry Housing Trust.
• Besides having a passion for affordable housing, Tammie loves cycling, riding her motorcycle and spending time with her kids Quito & Rio (two Weimaraners- yes they are dogs!). Tammie is married to Glenn Hoy, who has two wonderful “real children” Danny & Leslie.

Michelle A. Mapp has developed a passion for making the Lowcountry a better place for all of us to call “home.” In 2001, after relocating to Charleston from Atlanta, GA, she took a job teaching mathematics in a local public high school and volunteered her time with a local non-profit. She saw first hand the struggle many hard working parents have to both provide a quality education for their children and to obtain decent, affordable housing.
• Michelle recently completed a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Graduate School at the College of Charleston. Her interest lies in the areas of community and economic development with an emphasis on urban planning.
• Michelle received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University in Engineering Analysis with a concentration in Industrial Engineering. In 1994, while working as an Operations Research Analyst for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Michelle earned a Masters Degree from George Washington University in Engineering Management with a concentration in Management of Research and Development
• Michelle has over 10 years of progressive experience in consulting, management, development, implementation, training, and support of logistics software and systems. She has traveled extensively both domestically and internationally as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies on supply chain and transportation planning solutions.
• She has been married for 11 years to Marquette A. Mapp and they have two adorable children, Seth Alexander and Jordan Alexis.
