The following list contains a brief description of the affordable housing tools provided in this section:

Income Limits: Data published annually by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to calculate household eligibility for a variety of housing programs.

Fair Market Rents: Gross rent estimates published annually by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assure that a sufficient supply of rental housing is available to program participants.

Affordable Mortgages and Rents: Calculation of affordable mortgages and rents based on HUD published income limits. In the United States, a commonly accepted rule of thumb for housing affordability is that the maximum mortgage should not exceed three times a household's gross annual income. Housing costs considered in this guideline generally include taxes and insurance for homeowners and utility costs for renters.

Homeownership Affordability Worksheet: Used to determine whether your anticipated sales prices are affordable to the household size and income of the families that you are targeting to live in a particular unit.

Rental Affordability Worksheet: Used to determine whether your anticipated rental prices are affordable to the household size and income of the families that you are targeting to live in a particular unit.
